As I was editing my piece this afternoon, I realized that a whole new piece was calling out to be read tonight. I was still working on it right up to the moment that I took the stage. I’m glad I listened to my instincts. It felt right. The feedback I got from the audience and the individual folks who approached me afterward confirmed that I made the right choice.
