Picasso at the Lapin Agile

Wow, that was fun! Hours later, I am still buzzing.

20-something years ago, when I saw Picasso at the Lapin Agile at CanStage, I would never have dreamed that I would have the pleasure of playing Albert Einstein, especially in a cast with such talented actors and director.

.

Wednesday

Back in rehearsal for Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Later tonight I get to travel to Minnesota for Writing Circle led by one of my favourite poets, Neil Hilborn. We write, and share and gush and laugh into the late hours of the night.

My card of the day says, “My life works beautifully.” I guffawed when I saw it, but as the day progresses it is feeling more like it fits.

The package with the financial reward

So about two weeks ago, I got a phone call from a market research firm called Numeris. I like doing surveys and was disqualified for all the years I was with Brian because of his work. The guy asked if I received the package in the mail with a financial reward for participating. I had not and told him so. He said they would call back again in a week because mail has been delayed recently.

The next week, I get a call again. Same question about whether I received the package with the financial reward. I had not. He said that they would send another package with the financial reward and call again in a week.
Today I received the package and I was so excited and curious to see what the “financial reward” was. I opened the envelope and pulled out this:

And then I started howling with laughter, nearly falling off my chair.

Thanks for the laughs, Numeris. I’m looking forward to your next call.

2020 in Review

As I update this site with some recent performances, I looked back on all the wonderful things that I have had the pleasure of being a part of in 2020.

Thanks to the magic of Zoom, I have acted in 7 full length plays as rehearsed readings as part of Alumnae Theatre Company’s Cyber Reads and 6 full length plays as part of Corona Cold Reads. Both Alumnae and Corona Cold Reads are performed live, and Corona Cold Reads are also recorded and available for viewing on youtube (see my past performances page for links) I’ve also performed in 7 short plays, both as a part of virtual play festivals and as part of Eric Luvisotto’s Virtual Community Theatre youtube channel. Lastly, I had two short plays of my own produced and recorded as part of StageWrite Burlington’s virtual play festivals and Northumberland Players Summer Shorts Festival. I’m especially proud of my play, Introducing my Crazy, which was a part of both Burlington and Northumberland’s festivals and short listed by a theatre in Los Angeles for its upcoming season.

I’ve also dived into the work of voice acting with a pre-COVID recording for the Program Audio Series, and a part in an audio book called The Cypher. Links for both are posted here as well.

2021 is starting off well on the creative front, as well. I’m in rehearsals for the upcoming performance of Picasso of the Lapin Agile with Alumnae Theatre. It’s one of my favourite plays and I’m thrilled to be playing Albert Einstein.

I’m also excited about the January 20, 2021 release of the first chapter of Tin Wings, an audio book, with new chapters premiering every week. More about that in a future post.
